Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The manuscript is original, has not been previously published, and is not under consideration by another journal. Any exceptions must be explained in Comments to the Editor.
  • All files are prepared in Microsoft Word (DOC/DOCX), OpenOffice (ODT), or RTF format.
  • References include DOIs or URLs where available
  • The manuscript adheres to the journal’s stylistic and bibliographic requirements (see Instructions for Authors).
  • A signed Authors Statement Form is completed by all authors, scanned, and uploaded via the Supplementary Files interface.
  • Authors may deposit versions of their work in institutional or other repositories, if desired.
  • Authors must comply with ethical standards, conflict of interest policies, and research integrity requirements outlined in the journal’s Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement and Instructions for Authors.

Author Guidelines

Papers submitted for publication must be written in English.


As an author, you are kindly advised to use the instructions for authors.
It is mandatory to submit your original work in Microsoft Word format by using our online manuscript submission system. You have to make “New Submission” and upload your paper by using the online interface. All subsequent versions should be uploaded by using the same paper ID and your defined password. We are unable to process files sent by E-mail. We will do the final formatting and all necessary format conversions of your paper.


An SAH Authors Statement Form will have to accompany your submission. The signed Authors Statement Form has to be scanned and uploaded by using the corresponding Supplementary files upload interface on the website.

Authors who wish to publish materials in Sport and Health must agree to the following terms:


1. Authors permit Sport and Healthto issue the first publication under a Creative Commons license Attribution International 4.0 (CC BY).

2. Authors may enter into additional contracts for the non-exclusive dissemination of versions of articles published in Sport and Health provided that the initial publication in Sport and Health is mentioned (for example for subsequent publications in anthologies, books or open access repositories).

3. Authors warrant that:

- the article is original and has neither been published in any other journal nor is under consideration by any other journal.
- the article does not infringe any existing copyright or any other third party rights.
- the article contains nothing that is unlawful, libellous, or which would, if published, constitute a breach of contract or of confidence or of commitment given to secrecy.
